Before that he was winemaker at Seavey Vineyard in Napa Valley, and before that he had winemaking and winegrowing roles on the Central Coast of California. He also held a fellowship at Tenuta Tignanello in Italy and he completed internships in Central Otago and Martinborough, New Zealand, as well as on Long Island. He earned a Masters Degree in Viticulture and Enology from UC Davis and received scholarships through the James Beard Foundation and The Wine Spectator, among others.\n
