The free festival is open to the public every day, and is one of SLO County’s best fall traditions that should not be missed!

In Cambria, find the scarecrows in the East and West Villages, and along Burton, Cambria, and Moonstone Drives. More scarecrows can be found in San Simeon and Harmony.

Boardwalk Trail: 1.2 Miles (from Trailhead to Monarch Butterfly Grove)
Extra distance can be added by exploring the nearby dunes!

🧡 This is a great hike to plan for the whole family in late October or early November when the Monarch Butterflies begin to arrive
🅿️ Parking is difficult to find near the Monarch Butterfly Grove - we highly recommend parking near Fin’s to easily find a spot
🚶🏽‍➡️ The trail is mostly flat on the boardwalk, but some sections are hard-packed dirt
😎 At the beginning of the Eucalyptus trees leading to the Monarch Butterfly Grove, turn west and climb the dunes for some incredible views and playtime in the trees!
